Anti-Phishing Certification Test 2023
Anti-Phishing test: security products published passing the 2023 test
Every year we publish the results of our phishing protection certification test. These tests evaluate the protection provided against phishing websites. These deceptive websites can pose a real threat to Internet users, as they attempt to steal sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details.
AV-Comparatives Releases Certified Anti-Phishing Product Reports
AV-Comparatives, an ISO-certified independent security testing lab, has published its 2023 anti-phishing certification test findings. Phishing, a method used to steal confidential login data, poses a threat to users’ accounts. Attackers create fraudulent versions of legitimate websites, such as Internet banking sites, and deceive users into logging in through spoofed emails.
To combat this, numerous antivirus and Internet security products offer phishing protection. When users unintentionally click on a phishing link, these products should block the page and display a warning.
AV-Comparatives assessed products from twelve vendors, subjecting them to over 250 phishing URLs. To earn certification, a product needed to successfully detect and block a minimum of 85% of these phishing attempts. To ensure that security programs don’t compromise legitimate websites, a false-positives test was also conducted, wherein the products had to avoid blocking any genuine sites like Internet banking platforms.
Out of the twelve vendors’ products tested, seven Windows security solutions achieved certification. These products, listed alphabetically, are: Avast Free Antivirus, AVG Free Antivirus, Avira Prime, Bitdefender Internet Security, ESET Internet Security, Fortinet FortiClient and Kaspersky Plus.
