Performance Test April 2018
AV-Comparatives released their latest Performance Test Report for consumer security products under Microsoft Windows 10.
18 consumer products were tested regarding their impact on system performance. But keep in mind: Protection is more important than speed!
Consumer Malware Protection Test March 2018
We released our Consumer Malware Protection Test. Any samples that have not been detected e.g. on-access are executed on the test system. A false alarm test is also included.
Biggest-ever test of security apps against Android malware
Major new test of Android security apps shows that less than half provide effective protection – Out of 204 mobile apps tested, the majority were dubious, unsafe or ineffective.
AV-Comparatives have released their report on the biggest-ever test of Android security apps and their effectiveness against Android malware. The independent testing lab put 204 Android AV apps to the test against an array of common threats, and found that some are much more effective than others. Less than 1 in 6 of the apps tested defended against all 2,000 malicious apps, while over a third failed to reach a block rate of even 30%.
Advanced Endpoint Protection Test
AV-Comparatives has published the findings of an Advanced Endpoint Protection Test, consisting of the following component tests:
- PowerShell-based file-less attacks and file-based exploits test, including false alarm test
- Proactive Protection Test, including false alarm test
- Real-World Protection Test, including false alarm test
- Ransomware test
The tests were performed between November 2017 and January 2018. The primary goal was to compare the automatic prevention and detection capabilities of different endpoint protection solutions. The test was commissioned by Bitdefender. Products by the following vendors were tested (please note that the results apply only to the specific program versions and settings that are described in the report): Bitdefender, Carbon Black, CrowdStrike, Cylance, Kaspersky Lab, McAfee, SentinelOne, Sophos and Symantec. Security flaws in firmware used by 30+ popular TV brands
The independent security software tester AV-Comparatives joint up with sigma star gmbh and has decided to inform the general public of several critical vulnerabilities in Vestel firmware. Vestel is one of the largest manufacturer of electronics components in the world. Vestel components are used in more than 30 popular TV brands, including Medion.
Results of AV-Comparatives annual security survey published
One third of the respondents to the annual security survey 2017 reported that their security solution has blocked a malware attack in the last week. 16.7% of the respondents suffered a malware infection in the last six months of 2017 compared to 14% in 2016.
