AV-Comparatives released their latest Performance Test Report for consumer security products under Microsoft Windows 10.
16 consumer products were tested regarding their impact on system performance. But keep in mind: Protection is more important than speed!
A common complaint about antivirus software is that it reduces system performance, making everyday use of the computer frustratingly slow. For this reason, AV-Comparatives includes a Performance Test in both its Consumer and Enterprise Main-Test Series. This lets users compare the effect that the tested programs have on a computer’s operating speed.
We are happy to announce that AV-Comparatives has been recertified as an ISO 9001:2015 testing lab. TÜV Austria have renewed the certificate for our management system with the scope “Independent Tests of Anti-Virus Software”.
The first factsheet results (for February/March) of the ongoing Consumer Real-World Protection Test are now available! The full results will be published in June.
We released our Consumer Malware Protection Test. Any samples that have not been detected e.g. on-access are executed on the test system. A false alarm test is also included.
As in previous summers, we will be running certification tests for the following products:
Security vendors interested in any of above tests are invited to contact us by the 15th of May 2019.
The latest test of Android security apps – believed to be the biggest ever conducted – shows that only one in three provides effective protection. Out of 250 mobile apps tested, the majority were dubious, unsafe or ineffective.

Every year AV-Comparatives conducts a security survey asking users their opinion and preference on security products. In our global survey we ask users on various security related topics. The opinions and preferences from the end user community provide us with valuable feedback. The results help us increase the relevance and value of anti-virus software testing. We want to thank all who join the surveys and spend their time to complete them.
AV-Comparatives’ security conference and Awards Ceremony for 2018 was held on 4th and 5th of February 2019 in Innsbruck. 36 security specialists from 12 different countries, representing 3 continents, attended the event. Awards for the best products in AV-Comparatives’ 2018 antivirus home-user public test series and approved enterprise products were presented to their respective vendors, and some important current IT topics were discussed.
