Antivirus Lab Releases Latest Protection Test Report for 16 Popular Home-User Security Programs

AV-Comparatives, a leading antivirus testing lab, has published the results of its Real-World Protection Test for consumer security solutions, conducted between February and May 2023. This test evaluated the effectiveness of 16 popular anti-malware programs in safeguarding against Internet-borne threats.

The Real-World Protection Test by AV-Comparatives accurately simulated everyday user conditions to determine if the tested threats were capable of affecting the system. To avoid burdening users with false alarms, all products underwent a false-positives test. Products with excessive false alarms had their award levels reduced.

The tested products included Avast Free Antivirus, AVG Free Antivirus, Avira Prime, Bitdefender Internet Security, ESET Internet Security, F-Secure Internet Security, G Data Total Security, K7 Total Security, Kaspersky Internet Security, McAfee Total Protection, Microsoft Defender Antivirus, Norton Antivirus Plus, Panda Free Antivirus, TotalAV Antivirus Pro, Total Defense Essential Antivirus and Trend Micro Internet Security,.

Among these products, nine achieved the highest award level, ADVANCED+, in the Real-World Protection Test. These top performers, listed alphabetically, were Avast, AVG, Avira, Bitdefender, G Data, Kaspersky, McAfee, Microsoft and Total Defense.
