AV-Comparatives’ Awards Ceremony for 2018
AV-Comparatives’ security conference and Awards Ceremony for 2018 was held on 4th and 5th of February 2019 in Innsbruck. 36 security specialists from 12 different countries, representing 3 continents, attended the event. Awards for the best products in AV-Comparatives’ 2018 antivirus home-user public test series and approved enterprise products were presented to their respective vendors, and some important current IT topics were discussed.
Business Transformation, Security Education, Enhanced Real-World-Test and Network Security Mag. Franz Unterluggauer opened the day with a presentation on how the Innovation Agency of Tirol stimulates business transformation through digitalization. Next, Dr. Peter J. Mirski, Professor of Management and IT at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) gave his view on how to improve ‘IT and security education of tomorrow’. After the break we presented the improvements of the AV-Comparatives’ Enhanced Real-World-Test methodology. At the ceremony, awards were handed over for consumer and enterprise products qualifying in various categories tested during the course of 2018. AV-Comparatives’ founder and CEO Andreas Clementi commented, “Once again we were very happy that so many people were able to attend this event, which highlights the importance of independent AV testing.” Security awards for protection, performance, malware removal and low false alarms Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were given for each of the following AV-Comparatives’ Tests: Real-World Protection, Malware Protection, Low False Positives, Low System-Impact and Malware Removal. Product of the Year, Outstanding Product, Top-Rated Products The Product of the Year Award went to Avast; Bitdefender was given the Outstanding Product Award. AVG, Avira, Kaspersky Lab and Tencent achieved top results across the different test categories, and all received Top-Rated Product Awards.
